Sorry for the lack of posts! I came home to the Ranch on Fri. evening and will head back to the hospital Mon. morning...and anybody who has been at the Ranch know what life is like here! Victor continues holding down the fort at the hospital. Danny update: He continues to be in Cardiac Intensive Care, although very small progresses are being made. He still uses the ventilator all night, but he is gradually withstanding longer and longer times without the ventilator during the day. On Friday he lasted over 3 hours with the ventilator and even longer yesterday, although I'm not sure how many ours. He has a confirmed heart arrhythmia, but the doctors believe that it may be due to the scar on his heart from surgery being somewhat swollen. So, they have put him on a medicine to reduce the swelling and are hoping that that will take care of the arrhythmia. He continues using an external pacemaker, but there are times that they take him off of it and his heart beat and pressure hold up really well, and other times they take him off the pacemaker and he just plummets. So, they are hoping this is a temporary problem. As for nutrition, he is on his special formula via the feeding tube through his nose to this stomach and also continues receiving a special nutritional formula through his IV. He has been in good spirits and loves our/Victor's visits because they let us take in my tablet, so we can play Angry Birds, read books, look at family pictures and listen to music. The doctors have also been good about giving us more time with Danny....up to two hours a day! We made him a laminated picture board so that he can communicate more effectively his needs and wants, but according to the doctor they only picture he ever points at is the "I want to go home" picture! Thanks for your continued prayers....we pray that he gets strengthened each day to get off the ventilator and that his heart arrhythmia will clear up.
Lo siento por la falta de noticias....me vine a la casa el viernes por la tarde y me regreso al hospital el lunes por la manana. Victor sigue en el hospital con Daniel. En cuanto a Daniel...sigue en terapia intensiva de cardiologia aunque esta haciendo algo de progreso poco a poco. Sigue usando el ventilador toda la noche, pero en el dia esta aguantando mas y mas horas sin el ventilador, respirando por medio de su traqueo. El viernes duro mas de 3 horas y el sabado hasta mas. En cuanto a su corazon, los doctores confirmaron su arritmia y sigue con el marcapasos externo. Creen los doctores que es una condicion temporal causado por la cicatrizacion de la cirugia de su corazon que sigue un poco inflamado por dentro. Asi que, le estan dando un medicamento para desinflamar y esperan que la arritmia se resuelva solo. En cuanto a nutricion, le estan dando su formula especial por tubo en la nariz hasta el estomago y tambien otros nutrientes por la veina. Ha estado de buen humor y disfrutando nuestras visitas. Los doctores han sido buenos en permitirnos estar con Daniel hasta 2 horas por dia y dejarnos meter mi tableta...asi que podemos leer libros, ver fotos de la familia, jugar Angry Birds, escuchar musica, et cetera. Le hicimos a Daniel un tapetito con dibujos para que pueda expresar sus necesidades y deseos, ya que no puede hablar. Pero, segun el doctor, el unico dibujo al cual apunta Daniel es la de: "Quiero irme a casa." Gracias por sus oraciones...seguimos orando que se haga mas fuerte cada dia para dejar por completo el ventilador y que se resuelva lo de su arritmia. Que Dios les bendiga!
